How to Build A Successful Website? The purpose
for this information, is for me to hopefully educate you on how and why you need a
website. As well as how to make an
effective website. Especially if you have no experience building a website before. Well what do you think of when you think of a
successful website on the Internet? When I first started my
business I did not even know what a web site was much less how to build
one. There is many aspects and variables
that are considered in building a website that have to be considered. What do think it involves? The first thing is the
most important is it must be professional, especially if it is for your
business. Why is this important you might ask? It is one thing if your website is a personal
website or if it is for fun. However, if it is
representing your business your website is the first impression your prospects
and customers get of you & your business.
So, your website must look professional. The reason it is really
inportant is the website says everything about who you are. It is also important because if it is not
professional, they are going to assume that you are not professional
either. They will leave your website. So, this could cost you a lot of
money in lost revenue & profits,
which when you first start out in your new business is not good. Ouch! Knowing the
importance your website has for your success in your home based business. What
else do you think would be important to have a successful website? Before I answer that question, why do you
think you need a website? Well, the reason is your
web site is a tool that will enable you to attract prospects and customers to
you as well as build a database of customers and prospects, which is your bread

success. Another reason you need a
web site is because your competitors have a web site. So, to compete with them you will also need a
web site too. Back to our question
earlier. What else is important for a
successful website? It is important
especially if you have never built a webpage; it would be appropriate to get
familiar with html (Hypertext
Markup Language) if
that is possible. Or you can use what is called templates to build your website to start
with. Either exclusively or until you learn and
fully understand html. It is totally your call. However, whatever direction you choose, you
can be sure that you can build a professional web site. Many websites have these tools available to you at no extra cost. There is a
important detail that you cannot ignore that you must give serious
consideration. Your web site when
completely constructed, must not including images should never take more then 8
seconds to load max. Why not? You might wonder. The reason for this is according to Surveys

revealed that E-commerce web sites were losing $1.2 billion to 1.3 billion a
year due to customer click away because many websites were taking too long to load. Your potential customer
will not wait. This could cost you
business, if your web site has this problem!
What can you do? First, make sure
that you keep graphic & multimedia down to a minimum. Second, avoid having big images this can take
a tremendous amount of bandwith. Here is how you do
it. Always save your images in jpeg or
gif format. For example your file
johnspictures would save image as Johnspictures.gif or Johnspictures.jpeg. Also, if you decide to have banners on your
site limit them to two per page. Also, it is not only the
image format. Also be careful about how
many of them you have on each page. Try to limit to three maximum on each
page. Bandwith is referring to
how much of your connection is being used when loading a webpage and the
content it contains. What is the next
consideration that you should think about when building your website? Before
you even start building your website. Make sure you have proper Meta Tags in
the html in each page of your website. What does this mean to
you?... This is because difficult
backgrounds make text hard to read.
What does this mean to
you?... Always
be consistant with every page on your site.
What else do you think is needed? For your site it is necessary it
be organized and uniform. To add to that, did you know that colors affect your mood, so it will have an
impact on your visitors too. For
example, yellow and orange cause a cheerful mood while blue and purple have a
calming effect. While brown & black
have a depressing effect. The common rule of thumb
to remember is to try to use colors that achieve the effect your trying to
achieve. What do you
think your main page should focus on? Your
main page should focus on what you are specifically offering. How many times have you
visited a web site & could not figure out what they were selling? Your visitors are not going to waste their
time figuring it out. What is the
result? They will go to another site
never to return. Obviously, there is a
